Eat with the Seasons

Members of our Farmshare enjoy the full seasonal bounty our region has to offer: from early spring lettuce to late fall broccoli and all the best summer tomatoes and peppers in between. Each weekly farmers choice box contains 5 to 8 items for a value of $25. One item may be two pounds of a root crop such as potatoes or carrots, one head of lettuce or cabbage, one pint of cherry tomatoes or okra, or one bunch of kale or swiss chard.  In addition to what we grow in our own fields, we offer produce from nearby Tuscarora Organic Growers Co-op, as well as locally grown fruit such as peaches, blueberries, and apples from Andrew's Orchard. Members can opt for our "farmers choice box" , or customize an order from our webstore.  Follow the links below to view an item list for each month of our delivery season.

Our farmshare season begins with greens such as lettuce, bok choy, swiss chard, kale, and radicchio.

In June we pick beets, snap peas, cabbage, spring garlic, cucumbers, and summer squash and source fresh berries and cherries from nearby farms.

July brings us cherry tomatoes, an assortment of eggplant, and cantaloupes.  Bell peppers, garlic, sweet corn, fresh carrots, and new potatoes are just some of the many other summertime treats.  From local orchards we source peaches, plums, apricots and blueberries.

August is when fruiting crops reign--our summertime favorites such as heirloom tomatoes, eggplant, okra, sweet peppers, and an array of potatoes are in abundance.

September is the month of greatest bounty as we begin harvesting fall crops such as broccoli and kale while the summer harvests continue.

Selection is at its peak in October with over thirty items to choose from including: cabbage, spinach, broccoli, cauliflower, kale, an assortment of fall greens, beets, radishes, turnips, winter squash, sweet potatoes, pears, apples, and more.
