Our farm is certified organic. This means we adhere to the standards established by the USDA National Organic Program, which are based on a complex mix of historical practice, philosophy, and science.
Organic agriculture emphasizes soil health, limited synthetic inputs, and minimum impact to the environment. We use manure and soil amendments carefully and minimize tillage. By using green manures such as red clover and cover crops such as winter rye, we prevent erosion and improve soil quality. Each year we plant our vegetables in different fields on the farm through a process called crop rotation. This allows the soil to rejuvenate and minimizes weed, pest and disease problems. Improving the health of our soil is the foundation of our approach to farming. As a result, the vegetables we offer are the highest quality–nutritious, safe, and delicious.
